Maria meets Shadow in a glass test lab tank (the ones that are full of green water), Shadow is glad to meet her its like a 1st greeting of them becoming friends, then Maria gets killed; tries to reach out to Shadow who is then launched inside the capsule from the Space Colony ARK to Earth; fast-forward to present events from Sonic Adventure 2 where Eggman finds Shadow sleeping then awakens him.
Eclipse instead of talking to Shadow chooses to attack him leading Shadow to grab him in a chock hold. Before defending himself, Jade sees this then steps in with her Scythe to attack Shadow so that Eclipse can get away.
