25:44 DUDE hahahaha this was the prank I did, and if I remember correctly, Edray's video got a few K views from being embedded on another website somewhere, but then on BitView (which is nothing like today's BitView) I viewbotted his videos to insane levels, like 10k-100k range. That's how I remember it, unless you're talking about another case of viewbotting, which is totally possible

16:27 This was how my shenanigans were online when I was your age, 14-16 basically. I kept everything secret and nobody knew about me using VL or anything else really. Eventually my parents found out and freaked the fuck out about me talking to random people online, but things turned out all right in the end. If you have the choice and know they won't freak out, I would just tell them that you make videos online or at least that you have online friends. It'll make things better later when they find out the extent of what you do or when they just ask more questions.

With that said, even after my parents were aware of me talking to people, I mostly kept my privacy and didn't talk details until I was much older. These days, my online friends are pretty much the same as any other friends. I've met @BestBroGamerShow and many other online friends IRL, and I don't make much of a distinction anymore.

Regarding talking about political topics with family: I've spoken extensively with my parents about my beliefs, though some of the more "explicit" views weren't shared until after I was 18. With that said, my parents were pretty understanding and never freaked out about it. There's some level of family trust required to share these things, and on the side of the parents, some trust required to live and let live knowing that their child is going to be fine even with those beliefs.

12:28 XMPP is basically just like iMessage for me, used to talk to people I know IRL. I wouldn't want to use it for group chats or randoms though

13:19 Telegram is the best mainstream messenger, but the phone requirement is annoying. Despite that, it's my favorite messenger, but again, I use it in very limited contexts. At the end of the day, you're probably gonna end up using a bunch of chat services because there are different people on different services. TG has one of the worst reputations, but that's just because it's very lenient. Also, Signal is really good for messaging people directly and voice+video calls
