Just gotta bring this up. Light was almost made out to be the hero only really wanting to take out bullies before officially going further towards the "god" path and to this day the ending is ambiguous in the TV show on if he just plain died or became a Shinigami himself....already I can tell from what you said they made 2 things clear....one this version of Light they thought should be unlikeable and 2 there's no way that Light is gonna be a Shinigami.
