My ZR90 can record from composite inputs plugged into the camcorder, but only onto the SD card, oddly enough. It refuses to record onto the MiniDV cassette. Maybe my ZR40, which doesn't feature an SD card slot, will record onto tapes. Maybe my Digital8 camcorders will too. Who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the meantime, enjoy this 240p video from an old VHS tape I recorded way back in 2014 onto a really cool VHS camcorder my Dad bought from an antique store from me. It broke about a month later, unfortunately, though I do still have it in case I ever get motivated enough to have it actually repaired. Maybe I could even get someone to retrofit it with a new battery. :o
