Thousands of Zulus, led by King Misuzulu ka Zwelitini
Thousands of Zulus, led by King Misuzulu ka Zwelitini, once again gathered to watch the reenactment of the Battle of Isandlwana
The battle itself took place on January 22, 1879 and ended with the victory of the Zulus over the British. This is one of the greatest military triumphs in Zulu history, in which the spears and ox-skin shields (albeit by a considerable margin) defeated the guns and cannons of the British army.
The Zulu victory at the Battle of Isandlwana had a noticeable effect on the course of the Anglo-Zulu War (1879) and slowed down British aggression against the Zulus, forcing the British to behave more cautiously and respectfully
