I mean, when someone's parents descend from Ireland or Italy, I would assume they would have genes that make them Italian or Irish.
Then again, Italy is essentially "Schrodinger's race" where people will either say "Oh, they are their own race" or "Oh, they are just white people".

@YeOldeFellerNoob like to me atleast I feel white america is basically its own ethnic group now because of how much mixing they did between multiple white groups and the new culture they developed. I mean Latino is considered a race by most people even though it's actually just people mixed between native and African and Spanish/Italian ancestry over hundreds of years mixing with other mixed race people and developing a new culture. If Latino is considered its own ethnic group now then white Americans should be considered too using the same logic

@Flipy trust me. I'm holding back from my true potential. Tread lightly or else you will regret your decision. All I'm gonna say is, the 2025 version of me doesn't make fun of people for race or religion or disability unlike the 2023 version. But if you push it, I might break my own rules when insulting you someday. As for the accusation I'm black. I can see what you're getting at here, but if you've got family traditions, there's nothing wrong with identifying with your ethnicity. Also, Brazilians absolutely do identify with their individual ethnicity (if they're not the most mut possible mix ever). The more important thing is considering yourself American and taking the culture seriously.

About latin Americans I just know Mexicans are generally the least racist mfs on earth outside of a few neonazi LARPers but like they will literally accept anyone as long as they speak Spanish and cook tacos and stuff. Like I watched a video of a guy who's a non-mexican but like he grew up being taken care of as an orphan by a Mexican lady and all the Mexican people in the comments are saying he is Mexican even if not by blood and how he acts more Mexican then most Mexicans. Or like hearing stories of black kids being orphaned by Mexican families and accepted by the community as Mexican. Or like the story of the white guy in the 50s who wanted to see how bad segregation was by pretending to be a black man with face paint for years and it was so traumatic to him he fled to Mexico after seeing how racist Americans were to their own people
@shingo you can probably tell by now but I really like Mexicans it's just their country is run by cartels unfortunately but like I would straight up be willing to move there if they got their own nayib bukele to lock up or kill all the cartels in the country. Mexico is one of the few countries besides Bosnia and Kurdistan and Pakistan and Netherlands and south Africa and Rhodesia (unfortunately occupied by black supremacists as of now) that I think are super based people
