Birth and Family: Krug was born to Herta Brigitte Krug, who was a manual laborer at the time. He never knew his biological father, a doctor; his mother later stated that he had advised her to have an abortion. His relationship with his mother, who later worked in the Salzburg city health department, was very distant and led to a complete break in contact in 2011.

Traumatic Childhood: From birth, Krug grew up in an infant home, various children's homes (including one in Liefering), and with foster parents.
