The 1990s have been over-appreciated by web activity and pop culture for far too long. It's about time to move on as the next generation becomes nostalgic for their time.

Agreed 90s nostalgia is overrated as hell, can 2000s nostalgia come already?

Lets be honest, if you were born anywhere after 1999 you can't really be nostalgic for much. Nostalgia is not supposed to be this depressed wasteland of ideals. It's supposed to be a remixed understanding of a forgotten but ecstatic landscape that the pre internet days had

@HAMERBRO And nostalgia for the '90s has become a depressed wasteland of ideals. It was at its peak between five and six years ago, now everything in the book pertaining to "the '90s are back" has been rehashed constantly. It surely wasn't a forgotten landscape!

As a rampant collector of 90's computers, I can't say I'm enthusiastic about 90's pop culture at all, but the same goes with that of the 2000's and the current decade. Most of everything feels like it's insincere and force-fed from the top down in an effort to get kids to ask for some high sugar cereals they saw on the television.

One of the only things that really gets me nostalgic about the late 2000's is the vast web of small underground creators on YouTube and Newgrounds. A bunch of channels that only about 100 people knew were enough to pull me away from cable TV completely. Later on, I've become very appreciative of some of the underground 90's cultures, including the demo and tracking scenes where everyone shared their cool works on dial-in BBS lines. While large corporations are ready to dispose of one cultural phenomenon to start another, the underground continuously evolves, building on top of what they already have without forgetting their roots.

@Kugee It doesn't always have to be about the pop culture aspects, I focused on that in the video because that's usually what drives the internet popularity. I can see why the early days of the internet in the late '00s was a significant time for you; from what I gather it was when you discovered and began to appreciate the "little guys" in terms of companies and creators.
