This 20 Year Old Disposable Camera Takes Amazing Photos

I found this Kodak Funsaver camera loaded with MAX 800 GT expired film inside a storage unit. It had been sitting in there for probably about 20 years! I developed and scanned the film and the shots I got REALLY suprised me considering its 20 year old 800 speed film shot at box speed in a disposable camera.

Legit saw the thumbnail and thought "hold on a sec, I just bought the same disposable camera from Staples literally five months ago and it had an expiration date of this year. There's no way this is actually 20 years old." Actually surprised that they haven't bothered to change the overall design in 10 years. Even more impressive that you were able to get such good shots with it. Even with the horrid compression vidlii has to offer, it's still pretty clear the advantage it has with color over the iPhone pics.

I used Kodak disposable cameras back in 1999-2002 before I got my first Digital camera. I remember taking them to a store to get the pictures from it develop pictures.

film photography has fascinated me ever since i learned that the famous windows xp background bliss was shot on a specific camera, with a specific setting, and a specific film which made really made the colors pop the way they did without any digital touch-up.

@tora the bliss photo's setup really was not that special or specific, the camera used was just one of the Mamiya medium format cameras that are still very used and pretty affordable. This would have been the typical enthusiast/pro landscape photographer's camera of choice since they are very versatile. The film also was just velvia which again would have been the default film choice for the majority of landscape photographers at the time, and was until a few years ago because fuji is too busy cranking out instax film for white girls (the biggest cash cow of the photography market) to make more velvia. You can still get it though.
Really the special thing about bliss is that the guy was there in that place at the perfect time, normally that area is arid/dry and not very green. You can go back there today and take the exact same shot with the same camera and exact same film but it will never be the same photo because the real skill that matters is the ability to WAIT not film or gear

It's 20 years old and can take better photos then any camera made today. Some old tech is better than the new tech. My Pixel 8a can take decent pictures even moving in a car.
