i think the concept of an afterlife is more harmful to a suicidal person than the idea of eternal oblivion. eternal oblivion at least makes it harder to kill yourself, it gives some sense of self preservation because of the finality and the fear. I feel like the idea of heaven incentivizes it, which is probably why suicide in most christian sects was/is a mortal sin.
