PlayStation 3 Startup Screens

Sony released update 3.00 for the PlayStation 3 on September 1, 2009. Before update 3.00, the PS3 had a slightly different startup animation and sound. When Sony ushered in the redesigned PlayStation 3 (branded as the PS3 Slim), a new startup screen was introduced--the one that we see to this day.

This video is a comparison of the old and new startup screens.

Other changes that came with update 3.00 include (but are not limited to):
-The glitter/sparkles that float on screen
-A redesigned ticker in the top right-hand corner of the screen
-The removal of the "PLAYSTATION 3" text and jingle at the start of games
