The YouTube Mentality

This is what I suffered for several years, but it really took a lot of stress, frustration, and self-discipline to understand why these people still cling to YouTube mentally. With the purge about to hit, reality is smacking users in the face.

One of the reasons why I started out on vidlii is because of YouTube new censorship policy. The only reason why I still go on YouTube is because a lot of the people I watch still upload on YouTube, which is unfortunate because this keeps YouTube dominance as a video sharing site due to people still having to go onto the site, in order to watch their favorite channels.

I tried boycotting YouTube (and a few other sites) by the way ...The problem was that I had put my faith in an inferior product that was owned by a sociopath.
I will NEVER make that mistake again. It also didn't help that my viewership dropped significantly and I never really recovered from that.

I should probably point out that most of the problems people have with YouTube barely affect me in particular, maybe I'd be more pissed off at them if my livelihood was at stake but I can't relate to people who are in that situation and it's hard for me to think of what it's like, mostly due to a mental block on it. Instead, I had the same one-strike glitch that IHateEverything had and they fixed it, even though I didn't have a giant fanbase to whine at them for me.

YouTube is unfortunately still the best there is at what they do and Vidme's staff isn't much better than YouTube's, trust me that if someone such as you criticized Vidme, they'd start ignoring you and label you a "Vidme troll" just like they did to me when they banned me from their subreddit for calling them out on their bullshit in regards to referring people to Google Analytics and not spending that HUGE investment on more storage space so the 50GB limit wouldn't be an issue. They seem to think they can get away with a complete lack of proper public relations, which is the entire reason people like me complain about these things in the first place, they don't say how they plan to go about improving the site, they just make changes and expect everyone to accept them, even the 50GB storage limit change or the new logged in home page...

Getting paid on the internet is a lot harder than getting a sustainable job. But what's really causing people to lose ad revenue is because of regulations. Remember when YouTube did updates in 2011? YouTube partners lost a massive amount of views. For example, a YouTube partner had 100,000 views on average. Then when partners uploaded new videos, I got less than half of the views. Then it happened again when everyone was qualified for a partnership. Regulations screwed over everyone.

I've noticed a surge in all these politically correct edgelords going after controversial content creators, but I was unaware it was going to the next level like this. I'm not very active on YouTube. It's always just been a small hobby of mine, nothing more. But I truly feel for those that rely on it for a paycheck. Honestly, if I were making decent money on YouTube and had to deflect, I would probably take refuge on Vid.me. They seem to have a decent ad/donate network for their creators. VidLii certainly wins in terms of community and aesthetics though. This site needs to flourish and become a stable alternative.
