Juggaknots- Loosifa (Clear Skies EP version)
Juggaknots was an anomaly of it's time, but managed to stay afloat in the sprawling NYC scene with great production and a flow not really commonplace to the multitude of Wu tang & Nas clones. But their peak, much like many NYC artists, was their debut release, Clear Skies EP, released on Fondle 'em Records in 1996. This EP has some gems on it, most notably The Circle PT.1 which was featured on the Tony Hawks Underground OST. But all in all this is hands down when their production, themes and style was most on point. Often coming from a more cynically conscious angle focusing on issues that affect the black community.
Since then, Juggaknots has "sort of" been around, releasing another album after Clear Skies & 2 compilation releases. Most notably Re:Release which features Clear Skies EP as it's entirety with some of their tracks put in a new veneer for better or worse. This song in particular, is the one they botched the most, and is far more inferior than the original product.
