the "true self" is overstated, you are mostly what you make of yourself. everyone has immutable characteristics, but there's a lot of leeway you have to work with. I used to be a very different person as a teenager, but I forced myself to change, and now I'm happy with how I am, for the most part.

it's mostly about whether it what you choose to be actually works for you.

i was trying so hard to be my authentic self so much that i was losing myself in the process and i didnt even realize until i wasnt anything at all
