shingo (2 weeks ago) @madarao The UK's Ofcom is trying to impose content filtering on the platform and if YT is forced to follow them in the UK, the fallout will likely be the implementation of most of them outside of the UK. That's just due to the fact that implementing separate complex moderation and filtering requirements depending on the country is harder than just using them in all regions

edray1416 (2 weeks ago) If YouTube and Neal Mohan are dumb enough to get kickbacks from Great Britain by promoting British content, they will. Even though to their own detriment, they will lose a lot of money to the point where Alphabet would have to sell YouTube to a private equity firm. I don't see how YouTube is going to survive in the next couple of years with all the regulations coming down on them.

edray1416 (2 weeks ago) I've seen multiple channel announce that they are quitting. I must have seen about 50 out of the hundreds of thousands that are quitting. That might be considered peanuts to your standard, but that's a big deal. You may not see things they way I see it, but it will be a big deal when the big name channels start talking about it. And it's going to be around the time when the British take over YouTube's algorithm.
