I've had to navigate Japanese sites to find some really good files back then including rare Mugen characters and even some obscure anime and kaiju stuff.

I can understand some spoken Japanese but I can't read kanji yet.
I'm used to watching some Japanese films and shows without subtitles and I can pick up some of the dialogue.

It's now owned by a Japanese company. It's probably similar to Niconico now.

Yeah, it was a very lowkey site which was perfect for uploads back then.
The site died out in the early 2010s and it was only more recently that it returned under new ownership.

That's why I never bothered with an account there. A lot of people I used to follow on there would get copyright strikes and/or takedowns. I was looking for alternative sites to post my content when I discovered Veoh. That site recently came back but it's a whole lot different now...

There's really no rush. Just stick to what you're comfortable with.
I have four sites where I post content and it can get a bit nutty at times. XD
Before I even had a Dailymotion account, I had one on the original version of Veoh which died out in the early 2010s. I never bothered with YouTube and their draconian policies.

The hilarious part is I ended up joining VidLii when they removed my original separated episodes of Rita and Runt but I recently created a compilation of all the episodes in one video which almost crossed the two hour mark and they let it stay on there. It all worked out since I really like this site and the many friends I met here.

I recommend it if you like posting longer videos on there. Regular users can post videos up to one hour on there. They're actually pretty lenient with the kinds of videos you can post on there. I've even seen anime on there and you can post episodes with subtitles (you can even add SRT files to the videos as well).

The site owners enjoyed my original content (my gaming videos and parodies) and offered it to me. I'm planning to post videos on there as well as on here. I'll use VidLii for TV shows and Dailymotion for movies. When I start making gaming videos again, they will go up on both sites. My Internet Archive page is used for backups of my fanart, fanfiction and original video creations such as compilations and parodies.
