YHWH (i.e. Yod He Waw, the God and God) is Aramaic not Hebrew. Yehovah, which roots from Hayah Hoveh Yihyeh (i.e. He was, He is, & He will be), is translated Jehovah. From Hebrew to Latin to English the name gets the letter “j.” The Lord only mentions his name once in Exodus 6:3 “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.” Do you not find it odd that God’s best friend didn’t know his supposed name? The logical conclusion is that the Israelites gave their God that name. We know from Esther that the Persians worshipped our God yet they called him Ahura Mazda. Jesus is the only name which gives us salvation.
