Any type of vegetable oil can be used as a biodiesel simply due to the properties of the molecules in the oil. vegetable oil contains triglycerides, usually forming bonds with methanol Me-OH could replace the R groups on the connected bonds can form an -OH alcohol group after the charges have settled. this leads to a synthesis of a product of 3 ester molecules (R-double bonded O on second carbon, -OH group) which is what gasoline and petroleum are produced from. another resulting product from this reaction is glycerol, another useful molecule formed after the O uses the second bond to react with H2O to form an -OH bond at the ends of the newly broken glycerin molecule. while not being that economic cooking oil can be synthesized and reused instead of having to use petroleum as a nonrenewable feedstock later on
