The winter war was a war between Finland and the Soviet Union that took place on November 30th, 1939 and ended in March 12th, 1940.
The reds thought that they would get their territory very easily from the Finnish, but the Finns didn't back down and fought back hard, eventually giving the Red Army a big slap in the face.

although Soviet won the war but they cost much more than Finland
@LanXoabTheGoose The Winter war was very costly for the Soviets, since they declared a senseless war on a neighboring country in order to “protect its borders”. However, Finland couldn't have defended itself forever, so they had to make a compromise with the Soviets.
