Humorous Phases of Funny Faces!

"Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" is generally regarded by film historians as the first animated cartoon recorded onto standard picture film!

Directed by James Stuart Blackton, stop-motion as well as cutout animation are used, and it was filmed at twenty frames per second.

As the Vitagraph Company of America first screened this cartoon on April 6th, 1916, their copyright is now expired and the work is entirely in the public domain.
