Akira Toriyama
The legendary mangaka (Japanese comic book artist and writer) Akira Toriyama, that made the iconic Dr. Slump and the even further beyond iconic Dragon Ball franchise, has passed away at age 68 Due to subdural hematoma. He worked on Dragon Ball for 40 years and even still being involved in character designs and plot outlines in the 2010s Dragon Ball Super franchise revival. I wouldn't like anime/manga if it wasn't for my exposure to Dragon Ball Z on Toonami during the late 90s-early 2000s and I know many a modern anime fan shares my feelings on how big a loss this is. However, while I struggle to articulate and am typically a sarcastic and sophomoric jackass I am truly saddened that Toriyama-san has passed away at what is a relatively young age for a Japanese. I hope he lives in peace within the other world and we'll pass his legend down to the generations of mystical adventure enjoyers to come.
