To give you a better idea, 1450 to 1850 had 400 straight continuous years of similar eruptions adding to previous ones experienced in earlier human eras. Temperatures dipped so low so fast with so little "warm break" during this time that Europe and the USA literally thought of 1815-16 as a "year without summer."

Should something like this happen again, it would trigger global revolution against virtually all regimes as most of them would likely fail to properly address the issue, like in 1815-16, arousing their peoples to an unprecedented anti-regime anger of biblical proportions.

The fact is, if the New Madrid Fault were to completely blow, it could trigger similar events on the West Coast and therefore be powerful enough to trigger a major Yellowstone eruption. Such an eruption will turn the land for hundreds of kilometers in any direction into wasteland and even cause damage elsewhere; undoubtedly exploding with a globally disastrous VEI-7 force minimum. Most sources say it could blow its top with globally cataclysmic VEI-8 power.
