Tracker Music Contest
Make a song or multiple songs in a tracker, and upload a recording of it to VidLii
If you are using trackers for the first time, and you're not sure which program to use, OpenMPT is the most commonly preferred tracker for Windows. Go find it.
Rules:
- It has to be in a tracker (duh), a spreadsheet-style one. Think Protracker, MED, Impulse, Schism, FastTracker, so on.
- It must be a module you made, and a new module specifically for the contest.
- You must share the module file with me so I can verify.
- Your recording must show the module playing in the software you used to create the module. You must record the whole module.
- You cannot AI generate compositions, in whole or in part. AI samples are fine but might make your module sound bad.
- To keep things fair: You cannot use VSTs, effects or filters not provided directly within the tracker. Renoise is banned. OpenMPT's FX plugins are banned, including the built-in ones. Primitive synthesizers like FM or OPl synths are okay. Samples are okay, from any source, including your own synthesizers or instruments - they just can't be synthesized within or after the tracker.
- You can't just take a significant part of a song made outside the contest rules and use it as-is. Sampling a short part of any song is okay, including vocals or drum loops, but you have to actually compose something in the tracker. No cheating.
- It must be at least 2 minutes or longer, and have actual effort put into it (anything that isn't "I shit this out in an hour with no ideas" will qualify, it's okay if it isn't your best work). There are no restrictions on genre, channel count, or maximum length.
You have two weeks, and there will be a one week voting period.
Good luck, have fun!
