However, the Celsius scale is still fine as Kelvin thermometers are expensive and it would be difficult to get ppl used to a new scale.

Kelvin is the temperature measurement preferred by scientists since it is based on the absolute zero of outer space without negative numbers. The Celcius scale is based on the boiling & freezing point of water, but it has to be distilled water at one atmosphere of pressure, if the water is not distilled or we are on a mountain, the graduation is no longer exact.

Regarding the Fahrenheit scale, I've seen a lot of people on chemistry forums and groups complaining that it's outdated and inappropriate, even making jokes about it. But if we get rigorous, the best scale is not the Celcius but the Kelvin
