In May and June 2007, our guys who fought in Afghanistan went there to look at the battlefields and visit the graves of their dead friends.
They met with government troops and the Taliban, spent the night in the homes of Afghans - everywhere they were received with respect, as guests of honor.
The guys traveled around Afghanistan by hitchhiking (I don't know if the translation of the term is correct when you ask the driver to give you a ride).
