Victory Day.
Berlin, Moscow.
Russians, Germans, Americans...
Two of my grandfathers died in the war. I've never seen them. All that was left were the medals and a few photographs.
My uncle was in the resistance. When my hometown was liberated from the Germans by the Red Army, he was arrested by the NKVD - he was of conscription age and was in occupied territory. But then they quickly found out that he was a partisan and he was released.
The city historical museum has information about it. Although, probably, there "WAS information" - the Ukrainian Nazis most likely cleared the entire museum.
