Never played half life, but I've seen some pretty cool stuff in the game.

However the old W.O.N version of the game that was sold in stores from 1998-2004 is not very optimized for newer operating systems, i just don't like the new version of half-life due to all the cool features that were removed around when steam was released. If you want to play multiplayer and mods then you should buy the steam version since the last W.O.N server went offline in 2004 and every mod made for the steam version wouldn't work on the retail one, the retail can also be laggy at times, here's a link about the different builds of half-life: https://wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Game_versions

I reccomend buying it on steam on a sale as all of the games are about £5.99 the steam version of half-life 1 is slightly broken. It's the same with half-life 2 but the only way to fix then is with a buggy patch.

Do not be frightened, is that I thought there was a map of the Borealis in HL1, and see that map so great in the engine GOLDSRC is something unique
