They could be referring to how they won't follow the almost linear basis in which a Socially Conservative World has implemented into our society, in which tries to give the Nuclear Family the most priority, while many people may want to deviate from that, so when they mean disrupt, they aren't saying it shouldn't exist, but that alternatives should be on an equal level to the Nuclear Family.
