Moriz Rosenthal (1862-1946) plays Chopin Mazurkas
Moriz Rosenthal was a Polish romantic pianist, who was a pupil of both Karol Mikuli (a student of Chopin) and Franz Liszt. Like many 19th century pianists, he made extensive use of rubato and his pedalling was restrained. He was the most distinguished Liszt pupil to have recorded (though he was long past his prime), and regarded by colleagues (e.g. Hofmann) as one of the finest pianists of his time.
