Is there any reason why both VidLii and BitView exist as two separate websites?
They kinda look very similar to me.
Couldn't they be somehow merged into one website?
I think it would maybe be more beneficial to have all users and videos in a single integrated website.

@OldClassicGamer I renember that BitView was made as more as a early YT experience, instead of VidLii, which is more of a '08/12 experience.

Focusing on niches like Italian content, much more relaxed rules around uploading copyrighted content (tv show reuploads (edited just enough to make it a grey area and not illegal), hacking/cyber security tutorials that aren't blatantly illegal and more outside the mainstream like niche anime stuff is the way forward for the site.
Offers a hassle free video sharing site that offers more to certain communities than YouTube.

These recent improvements are pretty much the reason why I had came back to VidLii, after being absent for a few months after joining. XD

Lolwut is one of the new owners???? I actually know this guy. He's an active member in the Geometry Dash community. Hope nothing but the best for vidlii.

@MindL0ckAERO Sorry, but you have me confused with somebody else; I have never played Geometry Dash.

v MUCHO TEXTO WARNING

When I had initially heard Vidlii was becoming read-only, I had tried to deactivate because I thought the moderation and Jan's ownership were poor at best. Judging from how I JUST NOW checked the site and saw TWO SEPERATE UPDATES from lolwut both from this month, I can easily say this site is in safe hands. I think this was necessary and I doubt they're going to pull a toby and shut it down. I've been using this site since 2017 and have seen it grow. Looking forward to the future

@Hellowusput toby was the last owner of vlare, he claimed that there was progress being made for the site when there wasnt and then eventually shut it down.

@fenmiu Man... I miss Vlare, honestly. But, what happened, happened. Let's hope the best for Vidlii! This is actually the first time in months that I came back to the site to see how's everything going and the fact that it changed management is nice, but I don't really know what to say about it since I never really used it that much, just now I'm really going to try to focus on watching content here and not just upload it.

Thorough interview! Was wondering what happened to the "read only" plans. This new solution is a much better one, and I feel it will overall improve Vidlii :)

Liking the sound of the self-serve ads. Niconico (well known Japanese video sharing site) has a similar model, where users can promote each others' videos in weekly/monthly rankings by tag, and as banner/pre-roll ads on other videos of the same tags/category. I hope this system is developed with considerate care.

5:46 @kuz Good luck with both of those things, that won't be easy, especially not with lax rules.
