Ring of Elysium - The Game We Didn't Deserve

Ring of Elysium is probably the greatest battle royal game ever made, and not only that it is one of the best multiplayer games of all time. No other shooter game matches the gameplay depth that ring had. This video will go over all the cool features I could think of, as well as a mostly full history of the game, a "retrospective" if you will. (I hate that term)

This vid was originally like 42 min long and I had to trim it down so some stuff like the "heavy metal" gamemode (just a slightly altered version of bombarded) and a few other LTM's like the respawn point one isn't covered. I went into a big aside trying to analyze if ring had respawn points as a planned event mode before apex did but I was unable to find the exact date that apex added that feature.

>free to play and isn't pay to win
>had bunch of traversal mechanics
>has nice environments
Watching your Ring clips and video essays (what's a better term for this) made me sad for it's death. I never gave it a shot cause I'm a retrohag, but as you repeatably shown, Ring had so much dedication and work put into it and it's mind blowing. Besides just the huge gameplay updates like traversal, the maps in the game were breathtaking. Europa and Mt. Dione were so beautiful that even on Vidlii's crappy non-HD resolution, I can see it's artistry shine through, both on the ground and underwater. I regret not playing Ring just for that.
It really amazing that this amount of talent and creative vision was spent on a game that was free. Even it's F2P mechanics, in a Chinese game, didn't had pay2win elements. It is as you said, we didn't deserve it. I'm glad that the people who did play it got to experience this game, and I hope we come up with an answer to online games dying.

@Jambiya I think one day there will prob be laws about not being able to lock people out of games they paid for but f2p games are probably gonna be fucked forever unless a few companies decide to use it as a marketing strat being like "yeah when our company fails you will be able to keep playing, we will release our server software" or something like that.
