I think it's an advantage for a country to have net neutrality (demanded from all companies who want to be active in the market), so if the US is removing theirs, there's the chance that either Europe imports such bad policy (we're importing only the bad policies, not the good ones) or finally steps up their game, can gain in their IT industry and eventually get ahead. Either way, if it isn't the US nor Europe, a different region would start to benefit from net neutrality being in place, except the entire world gets rid of it completely, but that's very unlikely.

12:25 Congratulations, now private companies will regulate themselves. What could possibly go wrong?

13:15 Great, I don't like the conservatives/alt right either, so if they only can spread their messages on YouTube and Twitter in the future with the private regulation that's already there as you complain, I might just switch to anti net neutrality, more power to the likes of Facebook and Google!

The fact that you guys only talk about Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other big sites shows that you don't know a lot of Internet anyway. See, I don't know either what will happen, but in mobile I see subscription plans in which certain services don't reduce the bandwith contingent, but why is there a contingent at all? It's not a flat rate, or just a very slow and expensive one. In my mind, this should be prehibited by regulation, so you end up with best-effort + common-carrier principle, so ISPs have to compete on providing more bandwith, not marketing tricks.

7:04 But "taking the bulk of bandwith from them", that's the user requesting this data from the service and that's what he pays for in his net-neutral, flat-rate monthly subscription. Does it matter for the ISP if he has to deliver the data from the one place or the other? It shouldn't. The user doesn't care, it should be fast for all services, as he's paying for the line regardless of what's delivered on it.

7:44 But why should a service pay the ISP the user has a connection with? To get their own stuff delivered faster? Turned around, it's hostage taking by the ISPs: we own the last mile, so you better pay up with us or we restrict your access to this audience/consumers/customers.

8:35 So if YouTube doesn't pay up and gets slower, you'll go to VidLii, because -- VidLii will easily pay what YouTube didn't?

11:37 How is the regulation of a public good possibly interfering with your public consumption? Should libraries, hospitals and roads not be neutral any more for that reason?

5:10 Nobody cares about YouTube or Netflix, they'll make a lucrative deal with the ISPs, and they don't want to pay that, you're going to pay for it one way or another via your ISP, but then only get those services that signed such a deal.

6:08 I don't care if a service paid the ISP to have a fastlane if I'm not using that service.

6:27 How do you know? The offer could be that you get a cheap subscription with Facebook, YouTube and e-mail, or the very expensive one with VidLii in it, and then at many places, you only have one ISP to choose from. If he decides that offering access to VidLii isn't worth it in your region, why not cancel that product altogether?

0:38 So it's good if the government doesn't establish rules for a public utility, the market will sort that out in the typical US hyper-capitalistic fashion? Internet will go the banks/insurance way, just saying...

2:00 Given that I don't know much about your US net neutrality situation, I guess it's more like you pay for your subscription anyway, therefore for accessing Facebook, YouTube etc. at a flat price (seemingly gratis to you), but if you go elsewhere, it will be made slower artificially, so you need to upgrade and pay more to get what's served now with the same speed as the big sites.

3:20 Yeah, Aaron Schwartz failed completely to do anything against ACTA, the pirate parties just sit in the parliament to tweet about it. Just give up and make videos on the Internet, that's gonna help.

4:50 No, net neutrality has always been around, it's a basic principle of the Internet, you guys were just late to actually codify/regulate it.

@evancunningham yes, we understand you don't like the design, you don't need to keep reminding us. we're not just going to change the entire design because one person doesn't like it. i'm sorry, we're just not. we're considering a new logo if that makes you feel any better.
